Modern leather binding with new endpapers. Contents G - in Good condition. Some mild foxing and light marking to text and plates. Occasional sm. tears largely confined to margins. Edges uncut.

First translated edition of what was for over a century the standard work on the science and technology of artillery. Originally published as 'Artis Magnae Artilleriae' in Amsterdam in 1650 the work contains one of the first tracts on the rocket as well as treating the subjects of pyrotechnics and weights and measures. This edition complete with all twenty-three engraved folding plates.
