Illuminations is a first of a series of collections to be issued under the imprint Illumination Press. 'Illuminations is founded to faithfully record the work of professional and apprentice writers, poets, painters dramatists, philosophers of any persuasion or nationally..' The editor's preface states; 'Most of the writers and artists whose work fills out this inaugural edition of Illuminations would not be considered publishable by professional magazines that make up what has elsewhere been called the Establishment. Many have yet to reach thirty. Most do not, I gather consider themselves Beat. Many are simply acquaintances with whom I read on the weekly series at the Blue Unicorn coffeehouse in San Francisco'. Includes contributions from: Charles Foster, Judson Crews. Gene Fowler, David Sandberg, Ed Bullins, John Montgomery, Norman Moser, Caryl Porter, Doug Palmer and Jim Thurber.
