Johannes Jacob Wecker (1528-1586) was a famous Swiss physician and philosopher known for his book of secrets on medicine, sorcery, and logic. 'Secrets', as it is simply called, is a fascinating, eclectic work of science, mathematics and spirituality written as a deviation from the 'norm' of accepted books on secrets. Wecker ranked these secrets on a descending scale of importance – covering a myriad of secrets across a wide range of subjects. Some of the material covered included are God, Satan, angels and demons, theology, various forms of magic, alchemy, chemistry, astronomy and astrology, mechanical engineering, games and pastimes, arts and sciences, recipes for love charms, equestrianism, medical remedies, poisons, botanical and gardening tips.
