G: in good condition. Heavy rubbing to cover, with some loss to edges of boards. Rebacked spine. Ex Libris (Rosenheim Collection). Occasional edge-tearing. Foxing and browning throughout. Occasional ink and pencil annotations. Some mispagination. Plates 5 & 6 bound in wrong order and with repairs to top left corners.

Illustrated with suitable examples of Armourial Figures, and Achievements of the most considerable Surnames and Families in Scotland &c. together with Historical and Genealogical Memorials relative thereto. ALEXANDER NISBET, the ablest and most scientific writer on heraldry in the English language, was born in Edinburgh. While his method has been adopted by all heraldic writers who since his time have attained celebrity, his works have never received that full and generous recognition to which they are so justly entitled.
