Teg. Outer edges untrimmed. Poet Laureate from 1913, Bridges was recognised as a superb craftsman. These poems, originally published in 1885, are beautifully illustrated by Burne-Jones. The drawings had been made by Burne-Jones in early manhood but had never been reproduced and were at that time in the Ruskin Drawing School at Oxford. Being on tracing paper, faded and discoloured, mechanical reproduction was impossible. Under the direction of Loyd Haberly, they were prepared for the engraver by Professor R. Catterson-Smith, who had worked for some years with Burne-Jones in preparing the Chaucer and other Kelmscott Press illustrations, and who was assisted in this instance by Miss Dorothy Hawksley.
