VG : in very good condition without dust jacket. Modern rebind (spines slightly scuffed.) New eps. Ex-libris bookplate ('W.S. Adams'). Previous owner inscription on title pages. Slight age darkening to page edges. Blemish on p.249 vol. 1 edge (not impinging.) Occasional light thumbing and marking.

These two volumes comprise the Letters, Sketches and Notes of 8 years travel amongst the remotest tribes of the North American Indians. Catlin sees himself as a philanthropist and some sketches depict great sensitivity towards the subject.
